Carlos Cueva completed his Degree in Economics at the University of Essex (United Kingdom), and later his PhD at the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) in 2013, under the supervision of Aldo Rustichini. At the end of 2013 he joined the Department of Fundamentos del Análisis Económico (FAE) at the University of Alicante as an Assistant Professor in 2013. Carlos Cueva has 6 published articles in top-level international journals in the field of behavioral economics on multidisciplinary topics including the effect of testosterone on the aggressiveness of agents in ultimatum games (Hormones and Behavior) and on financial markets (Scientific Reports, Nature Pu. Group), as well as studies on gender differences in behavior in financial markets (Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization). His studies on Neuroeconomics have been featured in prominent international media outlets, including the BBC, The Times, El País and Bloomberg. In addition, his recent research on the impact of Covid-19 on professional football has been covered by TVE, El País, El Mundo, El Confidencial, Cadena SER and Clarín, among others. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Minnesota, University of San Diego, University of St Andrews and University of Copenhagen. Currently, he is co-director of the Laboratory of Experimental Economics (LaTEx) at the University of Alicante, where he works on the project financed by the SEJI program "Speculation and financial instability: a theoretical and experimental analysis".
