Joan Crespo is researcher at the Department of Economics of the Jaume I University (Castelló). He obtained his Master and PhD in Economics from the University of Toulouse (France). Prior to his arrival at Jaume I University, he has realized several post-docs at Utrecht University (Netherlands) and Toulouse School of Economics (France). He works on the junction of Economics and Geography. His research interests are on cluster evolution, regional resilience, geography of innovation, and knowledge networks. Within these fields, he has addressed important aspects about collaborative strategies of firms, the structural conditions for clusters renewal and the key actors involved on it. He has also worked on the design of more efficient innovation policies, in particular in relation with the Smart Specialization strategies of the UE. His work has been published in leading academic journals such as Journal of Economic Geography, Regional Studies or Food Policy among others, and as policy reports for the EU Commission. Joan Crespo has been involved in several international research projects with European and Latin-American countries.
