Fields or areas of research Electrochemistry, Electrocatalysis, Surface Science.

Dr. Rosa M. Arán Ais (Elche, Spain, 1987) obtained her B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Alicante (Spain) in 2010 and her Ph.D. at the same University in 2016. During her PhD, she spent two research stays abroad, at Cornell University (US) and at the Technical University Berlin (Germany). She received several awards for her PhD work, including the Best PhD in the region of Alicante 2016 by the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry, and the III Antonio Aldaz Award 2018 to the Best PhD in the Electrochemistry field. Since 2017, she has been a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Physics at the Ruhr-University Bochum (Germany) and the Fritz-Haber Institute Berlin of the Max Planck Society (Germany). In July 2020 she is joining the Surface Electrochemistry group of the University of Alicante with a CDEIGENT grant.

Rosa's significant contributions to the fields of electrocatalysis and electrochemical surface science have resulted in over 25 publications in high impact factor journals, including Nature Energy, Nature Catalysis, JACS, Nano Letters and Angewandte Chemie. Her research interests include gaining fundamental insight and fine-tuning the structure-activity-selectivity relations for electrocatalytic processes based on single crystal work, as well as the synthesis, characterization, and electrocatalysis of size- and shape-controlled metal nanoparticles.
