PhD at the University of Alicante (2005), Postdoctoral researcher and Lecturer at the Departament of Antropology at the University of California Santa Bárbara (2006-2009), Postdoctoral researcher Torres de Quevedo program(2009-2011), "Ramón y Cajal" researcher (2012-2016) and senior researcher  (2017-2019) at the Institut Català de Paleoecología Humana i Evolució Social (IPHES) and Lecturer in Ethnoarchaeology at the University Rovira i Virgili (2017-2019). I joined the Universtity of Alicante in July 2009 as a Distinguished Researcher with a CIDEGENT Grant.

My research interests focus on the study of human-environmental interactions and the reconstruction of human population dynamics from the Late Pleistocene to the Early Holocene. Theoretically, I am interested in Human Behavioural Ecology and Cultural Transmission Evolutionary Theory for testing demographically dependent models cultural change in its ecological context. Methodologically my scientific activity is broadly multidisciplinary, covering Lithic Technology, Coastal Archaeology, Landscape Archaeology, Geographic Information Systems, Stable Isotope Analysis, Radiocarbon Modelling, Bayesian Methods, meta-analysis of archaeological data and computational Agent Based Modelling.

Currently, I have directed PI three research projects supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness called POSTGLACIAL-MED I, POSTGLACIAL-MED II and MULTISCALAR-DEM. Between 2014 and 2016, I have been scientist in Charge of a 2-year IEF-Marie Curie Postdoctoral fellowship about the cultural and economic responses to climate change during the Mesolithic-Bronze age in the Upper Vinalopó Valley (Eastern Spain). I am currently the Principal Investigator of an ERC-Consolidator Grant (Ref. 683018) for entitled "PALEODEM Late Glacial and Postglacial Population History and Cultural Transmission in Iberia".

I have published the results of my research as first or senior author in top journals of my discipline such as Nature Communications, Plos One, Quaternary Science Reviews, Global and Planetary Change, Journal of Archaeological Science, Journal of Archaeological Method and Theory y Journal of Quaternary Science. Over the past five eyars, I have published as guest co-editor three special issues in Quaternary International, entitled "Time for the tide: New perspectives on hunter, fisher-gatherer exploitation of intertidal resources in Atlantic Europe and the Mediterranean regions", Quaternary Science Reviews (2016) "Late Glacial to Early Holocene Socio-ecological responses to climatic instability within the Mediterranean region" and the Journal Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B "Crossdisciplinary Approaches to Prehistoric Demography" (2021).
