I joined the University of Alicante in 2019, where my research explores the interesection between electrical, magnetic and optical properties of the so-called quantum materials, materials and systems where quantum phenomena become relevant, for example, in the so called topological materials. For the last few years, I have focused on the study of such properties in van der Waals materials, materials in which a single layer of atoms can be easily isolated. These layers can afterwards easily be stacked in structures where new properties may arise from the interaction between the composing layers.

Prior to joining the UA, I worked as Ikerbasque Fellow at CIC nanoGUNE in San Sebastian, Spain, from 2015 to 2019. Before that I did two postdoctoral stays, first at the London Center for Nanotechnology (University College London, London, UK, from 2009 to 2011) with Dr. Cyrus Hirjibehedin and later at Stanford University, USA, with David Goldhaber-Gordon (from 2011 to 2014), the later funded by a postdoctoral Marie Curie fellowship from the European Comission.

My research is currently funded through competitive regional (plan GenT), national (programa Retos para la Sociedad) and international grants, being partner in a FET-Open project.
