After finishing my degree in Physics at the National University of Colombia, I joined the Numerical Relativity group at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where I did my PhD in General Relativity with an emphasis on numerical evolutions of black hole collisions and gravitational radiation. One of the most important results of my doctorate was a stable formulation of initial values ​​of General Relativity with boundary conditions. After my doctorate, I did several postdoctoral stays at the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena (Germany), and at the Physics departmentsde la Universidad de las Islas Balerares and the University of Illinois. I have been visiting professor at the Industrial University of Santander (Colombia) and at the University of Guadalajara (Mexico). Since 2016, I have been a researcher (Research Scientific) at the University of Illinois.

My line of research focuses on the study of fusion of compact astrophysical objects in magnetized media, including binary black holes in accretion disks, neutron star and black hole binaries, binary neutron stars, and other compact objects such as stars with ergo -boson regions and stars. The main goal of my research is to predict and correlate the gravitational and electromagnetic radiation coming from these objects to help detect and understand future gravitational wave observations. I am also interested in alternative theories of gravity and in mathematical aspects of Numerical Relativity.
