Dr. J. Aragó (b. 1983, Valencia) is currently a Ramon-y-Cajal Research Fellow at the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) of the University of Valencia (Spain). Dr. J. Aragó obtained his PhD with academic honours in 2012 at the ICMol under the supervision of Profs. Enrique Ortí and Pedro M. Viruela. Upon graduation, he continued working for one year in his PhD group as a post-doctoral researcher and, then, moved in September 2013 to the University of Warwick (United Kingdom) for a post-doctoral stay at the group of Prof. A. Troisi after being awarded the prestigious Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship (IEF). During his post-doctoral stay, his research focused on exciton transport in molecular crystals and aggregates, which is a fundamental process for potential optoelectronic applications. Once back to the ICMol in 2016, he was awarded the JdC-Incorporación Fellowship (ranked 2nd in Chemistry) and, in 2018, the highly competitive Ramon-y-Cajal Fellowship. The same year (2018), he was also granted with a project of excellence for young researchers ("Subvenciones a la excelencia científica de juniors investigadores (SEJI)") from the "Generalitat Valenciana (GVA)" agency.

Dr. J. Aragó is interested in the theoretical characterization of the structural, electronic, self-assembly and energy/charge transport properties of electroactive/photoactive molecular systems with special relevance in the field of organic electronics. In particular, he is mainly focused on the intimate relationship between molecular organization and functionality (e.g., exciton transport) which is of utter importance for the design and development of enhanced (supra)molecular materials for the next generation of optoelectronic devices. Recently, he has also boosted a novel and promising research line on the computational design of plastic-degrading enzymes.

Dr. J. Aragó is co-author of 1 book chapter and 61 publications in international peer-review journals, which accumulate over 962 citations resulting in an h index of 20. He has participated in 11 national and 2 European projects (4 as PI), more than 95 international and national conferences (13 invited/oral communications) and in the organization of 2 conferences. Dr. J. Aragó has already supervised 1 PhD thesis, 5 MSc students and 4 TFG (final degree project). Additionally, he has actively participated in outreach activities such as "Expociencia" and talks in high-schools to disseminate science in non-specialist contexts.
