Iván Sorribes (Les Alqueries, Spain, 1983) studied chemistry at the University Jaume I (UJI, Castellón, Spain), where he obtained his interuniversity Master's degree in Molecular Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in 2009. As a recipient of the competitive grants FPI-UJI (2008-2009) and FPU (2009-2012), he completed his PhD thesis in 2012 working at the Molecular Materials group led by Prof. Rosa Llusar. He performed predoctoral research stays abroad (for 5 months) at the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT, Rostock, Germany) that allowed him to get the international mention of his PhD degree. His PhD thesis received the Special Award of UJI in 2013. After a six-months postdoctoral period in the same group at UJI, he joined a 2-years postdoctoral position in the group of Prof. Matthias Beller at LIKAT developing new reduction reactions catalyzed by transition metal-based complexes for the synthesis of industrially relevant organic compounds. Afterwards, he radically changed his research area shifting towards solid materials design and heterogeneous catalysis. Since 2015 to 2018, he worked with Prof. Avelino Corma at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ, Valencia, Spain) as a Juan de la Cierva fellow (Ayudas para contratos para la Formación Posdoctoral-2013), and under the umbrella of a postdoctoral grant of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). Then, he was granted a Juan de la Cierva-Incorporación contract and returned to the UJI to work with Prof. Juan Andrés for two years. During this period, he performed a short research stay abroad (3 months) funded by the "José Castillejo" project at the Centro de Desenvolmiento de Materiais Funcionais (CMDF, Saõ Carlos, Brazil). Since July 2020, he has developed his research activities at the ITQ after getting the competitive project SEJI2020 from the Generalitat Valenciana, which is directed to the scientific excellence of junior researchers. His current main interest is the development of new heterogeneous catalysts for efficient and environmentally benign catalytic reactions.
