Fields or areas of research Astroparticle Physics
Sara Rebecca Gozzini works in neutrino astrophysics with the ANTARES and KM3NeT underwater telescopes. She graduated in theoretical high-energy physics at the University of Torino (Italy) in 2004, and received her PhD from the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz (Germany) in 2008 with a study of prompt neutrino contributions to the atmospheric spectrum, working with AMANDA-II and IceCube. She was postdoctoral Research Assistant at the School of Physics & Astronomy of the University of Leeds (UK) studying cosmic ray anisotropy with the Pierre Auger Observatory, then at the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY in Zeuthen (Germany) working in gamma-ray astronomy and emission models of galactic and extragalactic sources with the MAGIC Telescopes.
She then joined the Instituto de Física Corpuscular IFIC, CSIC and University of Valencia (Spain) where she took over indirect searches for dark matter using neutrino data with the ANTARES and KM3NeT neutrino detectors. In the same field, she moved to the Erlangen Center for Astroparticle Physics ECAP (Germany), and at La Sapienza University of Rome and INFN (Italy). She is back at the Instituto de Física Corpuscular with a CIDEGENT research project in Plan GenT on "Search for new physics signatures and measurement of fundamental neutrino properties with the KM3NeT telescope". She holds the role of Coordinator of the Dark Matter & Exotic Physics Working Group for ANTARES and KM3NeT.
